Why Choose Accoya & What is Accoya?

Accoya is the process of acetylation which is a chemical procedure in which pine timber (in this case) is subject to a non toxic chemical "Acetic Anhydride". This process allows a softwood to be turned into a hardwood. The result is real wood that doesn't rot, warp, swell or shrink.

Keeping it traditional.

TIMBER ADVANTAGES

Timber in general has more sustainability in longer terms of service. The big issue with a lot of timber products is the rot potential due to the negligence of most people failing to maintain and upkeep paintwork & sealants.

The advantages to choosing timber would be the opposite of all the above issues - It's easily maintained and with proper care, can last a lot longer than its competitors.

It is also bio degradable and a great source for carbon storing.

Ecologically it just makes sense.

PVC VS TIMBER

The main and obvious concern over uPVC would be the non-biodegradable factor. uPVC uses 43% more energy from oil directed resources, whereas most timber comes from sustainable resource areas.

Another consideration would be the general life expectancy of uPVC (10 Years+) As apposed to Timbers (30-50 Years+)

Lastly another obvious concern as stated in the previous paragraph - uPVC has minimal maintenance properties.

ALUMINIUM VS TIMBER

Aluminium products are mostly cheaper in comparison to timber, the initial outlay will cost you further down the line as timbers life expectancy prevails yet again.

In terms of thermo-efficiency, timber is better at trapping heat, giving you saving benefits to your heating bills.

CONCLUSION

There is no product available like timber, it prevails in every aspect desired by a paying client. The only concern to some would be the price differences. You will end up paying slightly more for a timber structure, but in the longer term, this can only be seen as an investment.

We advise strong care and maintenance check-ups every 5 years to maximise our product potential.
